The sins of priests and Bishops are coming out one after the other. These priests and Bishops are committing serious crimes including sexual assault, blackmailing etc rather serving the message of ‘God’ to the people. The shocking exposition this time comes from Pennsylvania, United States where at least 300 priests are accused of child sex abuse by more than 1,000 victims throughout the country.
Notably, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court on August 14 revealed a report in the public of an investigation done by state Attorney General Josh Shapiro into Catholic clerical sex abuse of minors in the United States that said 301 priests are accused of child sex abuse by more than 1,000 victims throughout the country.
The report that covered six of the state’s eight Catholic dioceses and found more than 1,000 identifiable victims also added that there are likely thousands more victims whose records were lost or who were too afraid to come forward.
The report also catalogs number of horrific instances of abuse including, “A priest who raped a young girl in the hospital after she had her tonsils out; a victim tied up and whipped with leather straps by a priest; and another priest who was allowed to stay in ministry after impregnating a young girl and arranging for her to have an abortion.”
Meanwhile, the Vatican has expressed “shame and sorrow” in its first response to a groundbreaking US Grand Jury report detailing decades of sexual abuse in the Catholic Church. Pope Francis said he understands how “these crimes can shake the faith and spirit of believers,” vowing to “root out this tragic horror.”
The revelation comes months after several instances of abuse by Priests and Bishops came in light in several countries including India, Australia etc.
