Satara (Maharashtra) : 40 – 50 Hindu children between the age group of 12 to 14 years were gathered at ‘Hotel Grange’ and they were imparted education on ‘Bahai’ religion. It was being impressed upon them that ‘Bahai’ religion was superior to Hindu Dharma. The activists of ‘Pratagad Utsav Samiti’ received the information through an anonymous phone call. Then, Mr. Milind Ekbote, the Executive President of Pratapgad Samiti went to the venue at 11.30 a.m. along with its activists and foiled the plan of conversion. A camp was held for 15 days under the supervision of teachers from New Era School. Those teachers are followers of ‘Bahai’ religion. They went in surrounding small villages and collected children by luring them with various baits like they would be put up in a good hotel, would be taught English and moral value classes would be conducted etc. therefore, their parents were also influenced and they sent the children for the camp; but in reality, as the activists of Pratapgad Utsav Samiti (Samiti) got information from unknown source that in this camp, children were imparted education on Bahai religion; they went to Panchgani from Wai with Mr. Ekbote. They made enquiry in surrounding area; but nobody was ready to divulge any information. Mr. Milind Ekbote, however, investigated and found that many hoteliers, shopkeepers and organizers were followers of Bahai. He then straightaway barged in the camp and foiled the ploy of conversion. On talking to the teachers at the camp, it was observed that they had no knowledge of Hindu culture, Nation and Dharma. On checking books of some students, it was found that they were taught how Bahai religion was superior to Hindu Dharma. Mr. Ekbote went to the police station along with all teachers and students and explained the matter to police also explaining that it was an offence to deceive, lure somebody for the purpose of conversion. On getting all the information, cases were filed by the police against the concerned persons. Assistant Police Inspector Rajendra Bodake is conducting further investigations. Activists of Samiti, viz. Nikhil Jadhav, Somnath Desai, Vishal More, Tejas Chougule and Charudatta Divekar were present on the occasion.
