Through Sadhana the Seeker Destroys His Sanchit Karmas
Whenever a devotee comes to me, I do not look at his past, but I see what he can do in future.
– His Holiness Bhaktaraj Maharaj
(Shree Guru of His Holiness Dr. Jayant Balaji Athavale) Implied meaning : When a devotee, or seeker comes at the door of a saint, the saint does not delve into his past to see the sins he, or she has committed, but see how much Mumukshutva (an intense desire to attain God) does one possess, how by doing Sadhana (spiritual practice) one can burn one’s Sanchit (cumulative actions in past births) and progress spiritually to attain salvation. The rigour of Tapa (penance) had transformed the dacoit, Ratnakar into Saint Valmiki, for Sage Narada, provided him an opportunity to improve, had imprinted the Samskaras (traditional customs) of Sadhana upon his mind. Similarly, saints too provide every being an opportunity to improve. In real terms, a seeker possesses the ability to destroy the Sanchit Karma (accumulated fruits of past actions that he has to undergo in future births) through the medium of Kriyaman Karma (willful actions) in the form of Sadhana. Saints are the epitome of Matrutva (motherhood), forgiveness, Nirpeksh Prem (love without expectation) and of positive thinking.
