All religions hold cow in high esteem: Indresh Kumar

October 2, 2018

Terming the conclusion of the first phase of ‘Gau Sewa Sadbhavana Yatra’ as ‘historic event’ senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary and Patron and Guide of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) Indresh Kukar said that such an event has taken place for the first time in the history after independence.

He was speaking at a function organised to mark the conclusion of the first phase and launching of the second phase of the Gau Sewa Sadbhavana Yatra at Vivekananda Kendra here on September 28. The Yatra is being organised by the ‘Gau Prakoshth’ of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) headed by Mohd Faiz Khan. Starting from Leh in Laddakh on June 24, 2017, the yatra reached the last tip of India at Kanyakumari after traversing a distance of over 8000 km on foot.

Faiz Khan, a young and energetic youth is a post graduate and devoted to create awareness among the Muslim community about protection and rearing of cows. He had earlier undertaken a fast for 15 days demanding complete ban on cow slaughter. His yatra passed through the states of Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu to reach Kanyakumari on September 25. They passed through the towns and villages, on their way, braving weather odds and facing difficulties but never let their enthusiasm and commitment down.
Indresh Kumar congratulated Faiz Khan and his team of five for completing such a daunting task and honoured him with a shawl and memento. He also gave him best wishes for the second phase of the yatra which would start from Kanyakumari and reach Amritsar.

Indresh Kumar said that no religion on the earth has ever propagated the sacrifice of cow. The founder of Christianity Jesus Christ was born in a cow shed and his first bed was made of the grass in the cow shed. There are no records of cow sacrifice ever held at the Vatican or Mecca and Madina.

Cow is not only revered by the Hindus but the Holy Koran also speaks in praise of the cow. The Prophet of Islam has said on a number of occasions that beef is dangerous to human health while cow milk and ghee are good for the human beings, he added.

He said that the largest chapter of the Holy Koran ‘Surah – e – Bakar’ is named after cow. ‘Bakar’ in Arabic means cow. Indresh Kumar added that cow is the mother of all children who do not get the mother’s milk.
Father Abraham of Kanyakumari also spoke on the occasion. Earlier, MRM National Convener Mohd Afzal made introductory remarks and gave information about the Yatra. Mohd. Faiz Khan narrated his experiences during the 8000-km yatra and how people received him and his team on the way.

Earlier, the holy waters of Sindhu, Ganga and other rivers were offered at the ‘Triveni Sangam’ (Confluence of all three seas). The MRM activists and others gathered at Vivekananda Kendra marched in the scorching sun to the Triveni Sangam under the leadership of Indresh Kumar and Mohd Afzal and offered the waters at the confluence.
The MRM activists came from Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala.
