Thirty children hailing from Jharkhand have gone missing from a shelter home in Ludhiana following which an FIR has been lodged in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district. Hindustan Times has reported.

As per the report, the FIR claimed that the Ludhiana-based Paskin Mary Cross Child Shelter Home had converted them to Christianity. The FIR was lodged following a complaint by Chaibasa child welfare committee (CWC) member, Jyotsna Tirkey on Sunday (26 August).

The FIR accuses Satyendra Prasad Musa and Junal Longa of converting a total of 34 children from various districts in Jharkhand and then ultimately kept them at a shelter in Ludhiana. Musa has been called the ringleader of the operation.

Chaibasa sadar sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) said that “Investigation has revealed that the home was not registered. We have also collected evidence of conversion and the inhuman condition under which the kids were kept”.

Sub-inspector Banarasi Ram who is leading the investigation confirmed the religious conversion. He said that the kids were converted and taught Christian doctrines.

The police also said that the kids were made to take an oath on the bible and were given new Christian names.
