The National Commission for Women Chairperson, Rekha Sharma today said, the situation in Kerala is alarming as it’s not just religious conversion but organised human trafficking that is happening.
Women from the state are being used by terrorist forces as human bombs, she said. Rekha was speaking to the media after meeting state police chief, DGP Loknath Behra.
“I’ve asked DGP to look into the role of some alleged organisations and their source of funding. These organisations are playing a big role in forceful conversion. He promised to look into the matter.”
Talking about Hadiya/Akhil whose conversion and marriage to a Muslim has become a huge controversy, Rekha Sharma said, “Hadiya did not tell anything about forceful conversion but Hadiya said that there were some people who helped her convert and they have also converted many people. The video in which Hadiya is saying that she was being beaten, could be manipulated. She did not tell anything about that. State women’s commission should have met Hadiya by now“.
However Rekha Sharma said that state women’s commission is declining the forced conversion claims because the state government too has a similar opinion. This is going to be a problem for all religions in the state, she added.
National Commission for Women Chairperson had earlier visited Hadiya/Akhila and mother of Nimisha/Fathima who converted to Islam and is reportedly in ISIS camp in Syria right now.
