A 63-YEAR old madrasa teacher was arrested on Saturday from Kerala’s Kottayam district for sexually harassing several minors.
Yusuf, the madrasa teacher, was arrested at Kodungalloor by the Thalayolaparambu police following a complaint from a committee, according to a report in the New Indian Express.
The initial complaint in the case was filed by the Mahallu committee, which is the executive body of the Mosque.
Police said Yusuf was a repeat offender and has sexually abused more than a dozen kids. Police added that Yusuf was not apprehended before as parents fail to lodge a complaint.
After being arrested, Yusuf confessed to raping kids since the age of 25 and that he has also been a victim of sexual assault when he was a child.
The sexual offender said he “took revenge” on the man who sexually assaulted him by raping the person’s daughter.
Yusuf was sure that he would not get caught as kids hardly have any knowledge of sexual exploitation and the legal actions that could follow.
While people from the Mahallu committee initially hesitated in filing the complaint, they finally decided to take action against Yusuf.
