In the earlier times, study of Sanskrut started with its grammar
The study of Sanskrut language starts with grammar. In the beginning, one started with Vyutpatti (etymology). If the etymology was good, the literary books could be read without a Guru. Later, the etymology of words was taught. ‘Laghusiddhant Kaumudi’ and ‘Ashtadhyayi’ of grammar had to be learnt. This primary perfection was acquired at home, under the guidance of father.
