Why is Home Ministry delaying probe on Rahul Gandhi’s secret British citizenship case for the past 16 months?

Jan 7 ,2019

It is still a mystery as to why Home Ministry is not sending a show cause notice to Congress President Rahul Gandhi, who was caught red-handed for secretly holding British citizenship. This is not an allegation. Rahul Gandhi himself declared to British Company Registry that he is a British citizen with two London address while submitting documents of his hidden firm Backops Limited. This self-declaration itself disqualifies him to be an Indian citizen anymore, forget his dreams of becoming Prime Minister of India.

“The name ‘Raul Vinci’ is widely used by Rahul Gandhi while traveling abroad claiming that it was necessary for security purpose. In fact, he enrolled in Development Studies at the University of Cambridge in the UK under the same name,” said Swamy in his complaint to Home Ministry and Enforcement Directorate.

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in September 2017 filed a complaint to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh with all documents on this regard including Rahul Gandhi’s secret bank account in the name of Raul Vinci seeking cancellation of citizenship of Congress President. The 11-page complaint with the document is an open and shut case and it is intriguing why Home Ministry is not sending a notice to Rahul Gandhi to explain his version.

As per the documents produced by Swamy, Rahul himself declared to the British company registry Companies House that he is a British Citizen living at 51 Southgate StreetWinchesterHampshire SO23 9EH. The records filed by Rahul shows he has 66 percent shares in Backops Limited. He declared another residential address in London, again claiming to be a British Citizen. The second address is 2, Frognal Way in London. All these documents were filed by the major shareholder Rahul Gandhi, who was then a Member of Parliament (MP) in Lok Sabha from 2004.

Clearly, this shows that Rahul fooled both Lok Sabha and the British company registry. This secret company was closed down in 2009.

Moreover, Swamy produced a bank account in the name of a Raul Vinci holding an account No: 504664922071640796 at Barclays Bankin London.  “With this letter, I am enclosing some bank records of the Barclays Bank which shows that on page 5, a Raul Vinci having the same date of birth as that of Rahul Gandhi has been maintaining a current account in Barclays Bank bearing No: 504664922071640796.

This bank account was opened on July 18, 1996, and closed on December 10, 2014, six months after BJP came to power. As per the documents submitted by Subramanian Swamy, this Raul Vinci’s address is 2 Frognal Way in London – the same address as that of British citizen Rahul Gandhi in the British Company Register (Companies House). Moreover, this Raul Vinci and Rahul Gandhi have the exact same date of birth – June 19, 1970! These documents expose that Rahul Gandhi is secretly holding multiple passports and his Indian citizenship is mandated to be canceled.

Subramanian Swamy exposed these details in November 2015 in a press conference in Delhi. Citing Swamy’s expose, BJP MP Maheish Girri filed a complaint to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for cancellation of Rahul Gandhi’s Parliament Membership. The Speaker referred the complaint to Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee headed by L K Advani.

A notice was issued to Rahul Gandhi by the Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee. Rahul Gandhi never replied to Lok Sabha’s Ethics Committee as to why he declared to British company registry that he is a British citizen till 2009. He only gave an evasive reply that he is an Indian citizen and no one can doubt his Indian citizenship. That is not an answer. He has to reply why he declared himself as a British Citizen to British company registry while he was Lok Sabha MP, which only an Indian citizen can hold the post. As per norms, the Committee has to refer the case to Union Home Ministry after examining Rahul Gandhi. Home Ministry is the custodian of citizenship.

As L K Advani preferred to keep quiet on the matter, Swamy filed complaints to Union Home Ministry with all the documents. For the past for the past 16 months, Union Home Ministry is sitting idle on this sensitive complaint, which the entire country wanted to know the reality of the oldest party’s President’s citizenship, who is now dreaming to become Prime Minster of India, while facing charges of holding British citizenship.  Is Home Minister waiting for clearance from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to move ahead in this sensitive case?
