Encounter breaks out in J&K’s Bandipora, 3 jawans martyred


Three soldiers were martyred and an unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Kashmir’s Bandipora district early on Tuesday morning.

Six other security personnel and a civilian also suffered injuries in the midst of a firefight with the terrorists. The injured security force personnel have been rushed to a hospital, a police official told PTI.

Security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Hajin area of the district after receiving intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area.Nine security personnel were injured after the hidden terrorists opened fire on them. The security forces fired back at the terrorists, triggering an encounter. Out of the nine wounded jawans, three later succumbed to their injuries.

 One terrorist, whose identity has not been ascertained yet, was also killed in the encounter.

The operation was on when last reports came in.

 On Sunday, two jawans were martyred+ and four Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were shot down during an encounter in south Kashmir’s Kulgam area .
