Diwali horror: Man hacked to death over bursting crackers in Odisha

A man was allegedly killed after a dispute over bursting of crackers during Diwali celebrations in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

The incident took place in Sunderpada area under Airfield police limits on Sunday in Bhubaneswar.

The deceased has been identified as Amaresh Nayak of BDA Colony in Sundarpada.

Amaresh and his friends were bursting crackers on the fateful night when a group of people arrived at the spot and tried to prevent them from doing so. The discussion turned into a heated argument.

Moments late, the group attacked Amaresh with a sword, leaving him critically injured.

He was rushed to a hospital by his friends, where the doctor declared him “brought dead”.

Police are investigating the incident. Meanwhile, Amaresh’s attackers are absconding.
