Congress thirsty for my blood: Shivraj Singh Chouhan on stone pelting

September 3, 2018

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan has blamed the Congress for the stone throwing incident at Sidhi during his Jan Ashirvad Yatra. The incident took place yesterday, September 2, when an angry crowed pelted stones at Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s bus modified as a chariot. Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh said that nine people were arrested in connection with stone pelting incident.

Responding to stone pelting at his Jan Ashirvad Yatra bus, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Congress mere khoon ki pyaasi ho gai hai (The Congress is thirsty for my blood).”

“This has never happened in the politics of Madhya Pradesh. There used to be clash of ideologies. Different parties used to do their own separate programmes. But this (stone pelting) never happened,” Shivraj Singh Chouhan said.

Earlier during the day, alleged members of Samanya Pichda Alpsankhyak Samaj, which opposes reservation in government jobs, waved black flags at Chouhan and pelted his bus with stones in Churhat. Nine persons under various Sections, including 154 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, have been booked.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan trained guns at the Congress leadership saying, “I want to ask Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Congress state president Kamal Nath that in which direction do they wish to take Congress? “Is it right what their leaders and workers are doing?”

Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Bhupendra Singh said, “Police have arrested nine persons this morning (September 3). They are all prominent Congress leaders. The incident is shameful and unfortunate. It also proves that Congress can stoop to any low to come to power.”

Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s vehicle came under attack at Churhat in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh. Churhat, located about 25 km from the district headquarters, is the Assembly constituency of Leader of Opposition Ajay Singh, the son of former Union minister Late Arjun Singh.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan was not hurt in the incident. Later, Shivraj Singh Chouhan dared Ajay Singh at a public rally to challenge him politically. “Ajay Singh, if you have strength come in open and fight with me,” Shivraj Singh Chouhan said adding, “I am physically weak but I won’t be bogged down by your deeds. People of the state are with me.”

However, Singh told India Today TV that he “has nothing to do with the incident and it is a conspiracy to defame me and Churhat”. Denying the allegation, he dared the BJP to take action against him. The Congress criticised the Churhat incident saying there there is no place for violence of any kind in a democracy.
