In spirituality, acquisition of a guru, meaning attaining the status of a disciple, is an important phase of the spiritual journey. One feels that after becoming a disciple, one should obey all the directives of the Guru. Due to obedience, the process of dissolution of the mind and intellect starts gaining momentum. As a consequence, the disciple quickly acquires the status of a saint. One has to inculcate the habit of obeying one’s guide, responsible seekers etc. then only after the acquisition of a guru, one can obey Him.
