Before slaying Ravana, God Rama had prayed to Goddess Durga and beseeched her for the requisite strength to kill Ravana. Rama was a veritable Avatar (incarnation) and there was no need for Him to do this; but whatever incarnates do is for the establishment of ideals in a society. Vanar Sena (the army of monkeys) had constructed the bridge across the ocean, merely by writing God Rama’s name on the stones, Arjuna sought refuge under God Krushna to fight the Mahabharata war. It is only today’s agitators want to accomplish everything without any spiritual ability. Consequently, most of the agitations today either lose steam before achieving the desired objectives, or are suppressed. This underlines the importance of spiritual strength. – Tanuja Thakur
