वरयेत् कुलजां प्राज्ञो विरूपामपि कान्याकाम |
रूपवति न नीचस्य विवाह: सदृश्ये कुले ||
Meaning : A wise man should marry a girl of high kula ( breed ) even if she is ugly to look at. He should not fall for a girl of low upbringing however gorgeous she may be . The best of course is to marry in the family of equal status .
