Coimbatore: The official FIR report and the details of the interrogation released by the City Police has jolted the people of Coimbatore, as the three accused who were arrested on Saturday for their connections with ISIS has confirmed to have conjured deadly suicidal attacks to disturb the harmony of the city by planting serial bombs in places of worship including temples and churches.
The police have filed an FIR on all the three under unlawful prevention act 1967 Section 18, 38 and 39.
According to the official report released by the City Police, Shajahan from Anbu Nagar, Habibullah from Karumbukadai and Mohammed Hussain from Vincent Road were arrested after receiving a tip-off from a reliable source hinting a massive terror plot by a gang of three youngsters from the Islamic community and their intent to adopt ISIS style suicidal attacks in the city.
The tip-off was received by D3 Podanur Police Sub-Inspector Udhayakumar who escalated the issue to the higher officials. Upon receiving orders from Police Commissioner, Sumit Sharan, the City police conducted raids in the houses of the three accused and found incriminating materials as evidence. Later, the trio were arrested and remanded on Saturday by Justice Sakthivel of the District Principal Court.
The Court ordered to remand all the three accused till June 28. Meanwhile during interrogation, the police have found disturbing information of their plots and their plans to execute ISIS bombing attacks in the city of Coimbatore.
Accused Shajahan from Anbu Nagar, Habibullah from Karumbukadai and Mohammed Hussain from Vincent road have downloaded video materials of ISIS including speeche, bombings and suicidal attacks in Syria and other parts. They have even translated the version in Tamil so that they can lure more people towards the ideology in Tamil Nadu.
The three accused have been plotting to plant bombs in churches and temples in Coimbatore and were ready to transform into suicide bombers for ‘jihad’. They have been holding secretive talks among them to find ways to use trucks for carrying high intensity bombs.
The police reports say that the three accused had plans of murdering people against their ideology and the sleeper cells who have been working against them. They believed that by killing them they could instil fear among their community members and others to stop talking ill about Islam.
