Kerala: Communist govt registers complaint against 1,400 devotees for participating in ‘Ayyappa Jyoti’

December 31, 2018

As ‘Ayyappa Jyoti’ is becoming hugely successful across the state of Kerala, the Kerala Communist government seems to be worried as it has now unleashed the state police against 1,400 Hindus devotees for participating in the event, reported Times of India.

Reportedly, the Ernakulam rural police have registered cases against 1,400 devotees who participated in the ‘light wall’ (Ayyappa Jyoti) to raise awareness to protect the temple traditions and customs. The event is being conducted by Sabarimala Karma Samithi (SKS) in association with the BJP to counter against the Kerala government’s ‘Women wall‘, an event sponsored by Kerala communist government which claims to “preserve renaissance values that have become the foundation of democratisation of Kerala”.

The police have registered cases against Hindu devotees who took part in the Jyoti under sections 147 (rioting), 283 (danger or obstruction to the public line of navigation) and 149 (unlawful assembly for the common objective) in Angamaly, Perumbavoor, Muvattupuzha and Kuruppampady. The Angamaly police have also registered cases against BJP leaders, AN Radhakrishnan, MN Gopi and MA Brahmaraj.

‘Ayyappa Jyoti‘, an event organised by Hindu devotees to express their opposition to women’s entry to the Sabarimala temple, has now become an instant success in the state of Kerala. Thousands of devotees especially women, lit lamps and stood on public roads and highways covering a distance of 795 km on 26 December to show their solidarity with Hindu devotees who are fighting for the preservation of age-old Hindu customs.

Recently, a left-wing mob backed by the CPI-M and its youth wing Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) had attacked the Hindu devotees participating in the  Ayyappa Jyoti. The Kerala police had arrested 16 left-wing goons who had pelted stones at a vehicle and broke its windshield and had used sticks to damage the vehicle. Three people including women sustained injuries in Kannur during this incident.

The state of Kerala has been rocked with protests after the controversial judgement of the Supreme Court allowed women of all the ages to enter the Sabarimala shrine. The massive protests in Kerala by Hindu devotees had come as a result of the Kerala government trying to stop genuine devotees while allowing activists and non-Hindus to enter the Sabarimala shrine, even escorting them.

In the guise of implementing Supreme Court judgement, the Kerala government, with the help of state police force had turned the area near Sabarimala into a war zone after some devotees had clashed with the police. The Kerala police had also unleashed violence against Hindu devotees by pelting stones and lathi charging as the situation went out of control.
